The sun shined bright, the tea estates provided the best scenery as 41 golfers battled it out in the name of Packaging Industries Malawi (PIM) Limited 40th anniversary Golf tournament at Mulanje Golf Club on 31st October 2009.
It was the Captain Chisuse Kampango who carried the day by winning the 1st prize with an amazing 40 points and the longest drive.
Lucy Ganiza became the champion in the women’s category and went home with a Food Processor with Terry Amaru trailing behind her.
Making his comment about the Tournament, Nampak’s Corrugated Operation Excellence Manager Brian Salmon said he had a great time playing on the Browns saying this was his first time to play on such a course.
“The course is in good condition and I guess one just needs a lot of practice to perform well,” he said.
In his speech, PIM Managing Director Simon Itaye said the company organized the tournament to thank its customers in the tea businesses that have been supportive since PIM started supplying sacks to the industry.
“We thank the tea business for the support rendered to the company especially this year when we had problems with Forex which affected the production of Tea Sacks.
He then assured the customers that the company will continue supplying them with Sacks as it has purchased enough materials to produce their requirements into 2010.
PIM which is celebrating 40 years of its existence has sponsored the Golf tournament at Mulanje Sports Club for thirteen consecutive years.
