October 22 2009
PIM in October
2009 won the Institute of Packaging South Africa (IPSA) award
for its corrugated live day old Chicks box for Charles Stewart
Day Old Chicks.
Marketing Manager Nyakhoko Nsona in an interview
said the box replaced an ordinary stitched box with a far
stronger, better ventilated die cut box.
“The change has resulted in the survival
of almost all the precious chicks it carries, as previously
up to 20 percent of the chicks would die,” he said.
Nampak who are main shareholders for PIM
scooped seven awards in Africa. The others were Nampak Kenya,
Nampak Zambia, Nampak Zimbabwe and Nampak’s Hunyani Paper
and Packaging.
IPSA introduced the Gold Pack awards more
than thirty years ago to promote design, technology and innovation
while giving local packaging companies the opportunity to
benchmark their products against world-class standards.
The gala ceremony took place on 20th October,
2009 at the Emperors Palace Convention Centre in South Africa
where Managing Director Simon Itaye and Nsona represented
the company.
